Sellers Concert - 20th January 2007

A packed Selwyn Theatre witnessed another brilliant Joint Concert on Saturday 20th January at which the Abraham Darby Showband (sponsored by Newport Chiropractics) and our well known friends the Sellers International Band from Huddersfield led by the famous Philip McCann took to the stage. After a number of pieces by each Band which incorporated Celtic pieces to reflect Thomas Telford's roots both bands then joined together to perform in a huge massed band under the baton of Philip McCann.

The event was also special as it was the Inaugural Event launching the Borough's year long celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the birth of the Scottish Civil Engineer, Thomas Telford after whom the Town was named. The event was opened by the Ironbridge Town Crier, Percy Simmonds and the Rt.Hon. Lord Bruce Grocott and Michael Darby the great great great great Grandson of Abraham Darby III, after whom the school was named. As part of the celebrations a number of SMADS members dressed in Regency Costume.
